Artist Statement

I am an abstract artist originally from South Korea, currently residing in Ontario, Canada.

I graduated from Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul  with a BA in Fine Art. I have since worked as an art teacher in Korea until 2000 where I started teaching in Canada. I have also been a Korean School Teacher and Principal up until recent years where I now spend my time drawing and painting to create various pieces of art.

My work includes primarily abstract and expressive styles, using a variety of materials, including acrylic, markers, textured pastes, pastels, charcoal, and ink. One of the unique features of my work is the creation of textured, three-dimensional paintings that invite not only visual engagement but also a tactile experience.

The main themes of my work revolve around personal experiences and emotions, which I transform into compositions of colour and texture. My art is a form of reflection on my life events, where each painting becomes a metaphor for my inner world.

I draw inspiration from the surrounding world, from people passionate about their work, and from the process of self-development, finding strength in these sources for self-expression.
